WHERETHESPARKMEETSTHESTRUCTURE

Milan Design Week 2025. Inside Designtech CoFactory, Wingamm wanted to transform their OASI 540 motorhome into something beyond a vehicle, an immersive window into travel itself.
The installation invited visitors to step inside the motorhome and experience a virtual journey through the landscapes of Lapland, blending physical space with augmented reality to turn the cabin into a moving portal.
Using a custom mobile AR application, visitors scanned physical markers placed throughout the OASI 540.1 interior. The windows of the motorhome transformed into immersive AR portals, revealing snowy landscapes, frozen terrain, and cinematic views inspired by Lapland’s extreme environments.
The goal wasn't just visual spectacle. It was to make the motorhome feel emotionally transportive as if the vehicle itself had already travelled thousands of kilometers north.
I worked on the development and implementation of the AR experience using Unity and Vuforia, building the marker-based interaction system, AR portal behaviour, and environmental integration inside the motorhome space.
The experience relied heavily on Vuforia Image Targets and real-time occlusion techniques to anchor the virtual environments convincingly within the physical vehicle interior.
Spatial alignment was critical. The AR windows needed to feel physically embedded into the architecture of the OASI 540 rather than floating above it. Achieving that illusion required careful calibration between image tracking, perspective, and occlusion handling inside a constantly changing lighting environment during the exhibition.
The challenge wasn't simply placing content in AR. It was making visitors genuinely feel like the outside world had changed beyond the motorhome windows.
The installation became part of Wingamm's Design Week presence at CoFactory, showcasing how immersive technology could extend the emotional and experiential side of modern travel design.
The project demonstrated how AR could transform a static exhibition space into something cinematic, spatial, and transportive.
